Mary Phelps Jacob ~ 1914

       The first modern brassiere to be awarded a patent was invented by a New York socialite named Mary Phelps Jacob. In 1914 Ms. Jacob was issued a patent for her invention from the United States Patent & Trademark Office (USPTO). There were 5 documents on file for this patent.
