" Be it known that I, William Painter, of the city of Baltimore, in the State of Maryland, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Bottle-Sealing Devices; and I do hereby declare that the following specification, taken in connection with the drawings furnished and forming a part of the same, is a clear, true, and complete description of the several features of my invention. My present invention pertains to the sealing of bottles by the use of compressible packing - disks and metallic caps, which have flanges bent into reliable locking engagement with annular locking shoulders on the heads of bottles."…
